Hi

I just got a CM11 and installed the CM11 Plugin and it seems the responce times are slow. IMHO

If I execute a simple off command, it takes about 2 seconds to respond. i.e. light comes on.

Now if I execute 3 commands in quick succession, it takes from 5 upto 10 seconds to complete all the commands.

I have read else were on the forum, that the plugin could be waiting for responces? is that true? How can I get round this problem?

The CM11 isn't the quickest device around - it only talks to the PC at 9600bps - I get a similar sort of response time from Homeseer via a webpage.

I'm hoping that there will be a 240V version of the new CM15 which has a USB connection to the PC - that should be a lot more responsive.

Hi Rob,

Althou the baud rate is low, is there a lot of data sent? It would have to be a very large packet to be a problem I would imagine.

I use a 9600bps to talk to alot of kit at work via RS232 and often transfer large amounts of data, and that is not slow...

I'm not sure, there's probably a website with details of the protocol used, but there is a noticeable lag of a second or two from Homeseer.

The host connection really cannot make any difference. Remember that X10 transmits it's data synchronous to the frequency of the power line which means 1 Bit per 20 msec at 50Hz . And as far as I know, every transmission is at least repeated once to avoid errors This make easily more that 1 sec. for a single transmission..
Even if the host interface operates at 9600 bd , there is 1 byte (8 bits) transmitted every msec.

Damn, what an idiot, I forgot to acount for the way x10 works.

That would explain my findings....
