Rick,
Let me preface this with "I've never tried this but..."
I think what you're trying to do might be do'able using the following technique:
When you create a device using the Girder SLinkE plugin (File-->Settings-->Hardware Plugins (tab)-->SlinkE driver-->Settings), you create the device using a unique name and associate a slink-e device (.cde) file to it. You also assign which slink-e ports are used with this device.
The combination of the Girder device name along with the name of the command within the .cde file is used as the ir string assigned to a Girder command or multigroup.
For example: Assume you create a Girder SLinkE device named "bedroom", associate a slink-e device file for your TV, and use "IR Port 1". If you "teach" the "channel+" IR command to a Girder Command or MultiGroup, the ir string assigned to the Girder Command/MultiGroup will look like: bedroom:channel+
Keep in mind that you can create different Girder devices that use the SAME .cde file association. As with the previous example, if you add an additional girder device file named "livingroom", associate a slink-e device file for your TV, and use "IR Port 2". If you "teach" the "channel+" IR command to a Girder Command or MultiGroup, the ir string assigned to the Girder Command/MultiGroup will NOW look like: livingroom:channel+
I hope this makes sense--it's more difficult to explain than it is to do. Again, keep in mind that I haven't tried this. I'm only using one IR zone at the moment and don't have anyway to test if it works or not.
Good luck!
Steve
