View Full Version : Multiple Zoom Player plugins

Hi,

I have developed a simple ZP menu control CCF which works great but I have two PCs connected to two different TVs and as such was wondering if it is possible to have multiple instances of the Zoom Player plugin and switch between them?

I've done some searching and reading of the manual so apologies if this is either very simple or has been answered already!

Thankyou, JDH

Never tried it, but it should work now. And if it doesn't, maybe I can make it work.

The theory is that you can add a new instances of the driver (plug-in) in the NR preferences, configure them one to each PC, and then use the different plug-in instance IDs in the IR codes in the CCF to direct your commands to one or the other. There is only one set of ZP variables though.

Isn't it tricky watching two DVDs at once? :lol:

Shouldn't be a problem. You'll need to create a new instance of the plugin and use the hexadecimal form of the plugin id in all IR commands for the new instance.

Brian, you don't have any kids, do you? :roll: When mommy and daddy are watching a movie before bedtime (and a long movie in my house has to start before bedtime) the kids have to be treated to a movie as well! I'm sure that's JHD's usage as well! :wink:

Ah - another of those arcane mysteries of parenthood, Eh?

Yep. I could explain it, but a non parent wouldn't understand... :lol:

You're welcome. Like the midwives always say, when the lady asks if the worst is over: "No, the worst will be the next 18 years." :wink:

Thanks for the prompt responses, just came back and noticed 7 replies !

That's what I was looking for although I can't see which block of the IR code to change (there seems to be no mention in the ZP plugin manual) e.g. for a basic ZP function the IR code is 5001 0000 0000 0002 fc06 0000 5100 0000 , what should I change to determine the instance? (sorry if I've missed something very obvious!)

Honestly I'm just trying to watch one at a time! I've got two separate setups, one in the bedroom and one in the living room.

@Mastiff

Ha! :lol: happy to say I'm not quite at that stage yet although there's been murmurings from the missus :o

I'd guess that you're in the UK too - where are you?

You hadn't missed anything obvious. And you're right - it's not in the ZP plugin manual. The reason (excuse?) is that multi-instance support is generic, and not limited to any particular plugin. The (very) good news is that this is yet another thing that ought to become a whole lot easier with the new CCF builder (early beta real soon now). Using that, you will simply select actions from a list and the appropriate cde will be generated for you. I assume (Ben?) that it will support multiple instances.

@avid

Ahh I see, a more than reasonable excuse! :)

Looking forward to that; Pronto has to be one of the least intuitive programs I've used in a long time but I guess that's because it's being adapted for use outside of it's original, simpler, purpose.

@rah99

I live in Cheltenham near Gloucester (home of the Gold Cup and Ladies College), quite a way south of yourself!

Cheers, JDH

I know the station well - I have friends in Swindon.
