I'm new to the NetRemote/Girder applications, so I apologize if this has been answered already but I have not been able to find a simple answer in any documentation so far. This is what I would like to do. I have a Dell Axim X5 (w/ WiFi) that I want to use as an IR remote control. I already have set up the PDA to function as a remote control when used in hand, and have verified there are no networking/firewall issues between the PDA and PC. I want to be able to place the PDA in front of my A/V equipment in one room, and remotely control these items from my desktop PC in another room. If this is possible, what are the basic steps needed to make this work? Thanks.

You could use a program like Pocket Controller (http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro) to control your ppc from your desktop machine via wi-fi. All you'd need to do is install the desktop and ppc software and tell the desktop controller the name (or ip address) of the ppc and you should be good to go :D

Or you could use this free M$ Powertoy tool insted.

I can't really recommend such an installation though, because once your PPC is in standby, there is no way you could awake it via the network. Better run NetRemote on your PC and use a device to send the IR-code form there (USBUIRT) or via the network (GlobalCaché)

What about running NR on PC, which talks to Girder and Girder then talks to NR running on the PPC to somehow trigger the action from the PPC?
However, I agree that using Global Cache or USB-UIRT is a much nicer solution.
It does sound like a very odd thing you are trying to do - almost sounds back to front. Can you explain why you want to do it this way?

Thanks for all your ideas. I'm currently using MS Remote Display Control to remotely control the PDA, but I will look into the other suggestions. Ultimately I would like to be able to use a PVR application to remotely control a satellite box, which is in a different location than the PC. Basically, I'm looking for an IR Blaster type device I can use over WiFi.

That leaves you with an GlobalCaché device connected to a WiFi access point.
