Hi
Very new to all of this so please be patient
Hardware
Dell axim 50v pda
usb uirt
Denon 2803 av amp
Sky plus
Lg plasma tv
Pioneer amp
Htpc
Tonto
Software
J river media center 11 (beta)
Netremote (registered)
Girder (trial version)
What I would like to do
Basically I would like to replace my philips tsu 7000 pronto with the dell axim using the dell to control all ir devices stated above as well as a 3 zone music display via j river, I have been experimenting with various cff's am able to use the dell to operate j river over two zones with the only problem being the volume (does not seem to be independant of each other depending on which zone is active in j river).
Girder and usb uirt is a differnt story all I get is ldv error after installing the latest uirt plugin.
After overcoming the plugin error what do you have to do to make girder operate all av equipment using netremote via usb uirt, do you lear ir codes into girder and the ccf so say you press volume up for the denon and girder picks this up and then issues the command to usb uirt.
Very confused and excited at the same time
thanks in advance

chas,
You can teach NR the IR codes you need to your equipment.
What do you want to do with Girder and the UIRT?
Also. what version of Girder?

Your set up is almost identical to mine (HTPC, USB-UIRT, Girder, Sky Plus, JRMC, Denon 3802, Panasonic Plasma etc). Check out my ccf on my web site if you like. The only thing is that I don't do multi-zone but there are plenty round here that have modified my ccf for multi-zone.
For the USB-UIRT to work you need a driver in your Windows\System32 folder as well as the Girder Plugin.

Hi right the plugin seems to be working as I am able to learn some ir commands, I clicked on plugins then edit - add command - then target and I was able to learn ir command so I suppose thats a start ok so iI would like ot be able to turn over my sky channel using the dell axim from upstairs all the equipment is in the same room as the usbuirt downstairs I would also like to be able to change the active zone in j river from the ccf, if I showed how to do these two (one learn ir and combine ccf, girder and uirt to control sky and doing a keyboard shortcut from the ccf i.e. ctrl t changes active zone within j river) this will give a good understnading of how things work
thanks

Like I said - check out my CCF for control of Sky. It has everything you need (even the learned IR codes should be correct if you have a Pace Sky Plus Box) so you should be able to just copy the whole lot.

Put it where you like and open it in girder via file open. If this will be your master gml use file> settings to make girder open this file automatically when started.

Shouldn't be too difficult to sort out. It just means that NR is not talking to Girder and there are several possible reasons for this:
Have you configured the Girder plug in? You need to set the IP (or Hostname) of your PC and the port / password to use for the Internet Event Server (IES) Plug in in Girder. Then enable the IES plug in in Girder and make sure it has the same port and password.
If this doesn't solve the problem then maybe it's the WiFi connection to your PC that's letting you down. You'll need to troubleshoot that e.g. check firewall settings, see if you can ping PPC from PC and visa versa, etc.

Which girder plugin would that be the internet event server or something else, wi-fi connection is fine as jriver works through the ccf and I have no firewall installed although I am using a d link router but firewall is disabled.

File, settings, plug-in. Internet Event Server, settings. You need to set the password to the same password you're using in NetRemote's Girder plug-in and allow the ppc to connect (if you haven't got a static IP on it, you have to select "Allow all"), and the port to the same as well.

Right did not realise the girder plugin in netremote, have found this now and have both set to the same port and password I am on a static ip but still cant send ir via ppc or w32 version on the same pc?
thanks

Did you set Girder's internet event server plug-in to allow all? Try "Disable abuse protection" as well, that may help. Also, the port Girder uses (1024) is often blocked by default by firewalls since it's the same port as some trojan uses, so try to disable all firewalls (including the sorry excues for a firewall Windows has).

Open the Girder window so you can view the status bar at the bottom. Then hit some commands on the sky panel in NR and you should see them mentioned in the status bar in Girder if they are being received. Can you confirm if they are getting through and if any errors are shown?

Can control sky from ppc now using jlee's ccf (thanks jlee) everyone else now that it is working I can modify the ir codes for the timebeing to suit my own equipment, how difficult would it be to incoporate multi zone into this ccf
