Unversal Remote with MCE Receiver

Sorry if this is a silly question but I am thinking about buying girder but I wanted to make sure I can do what I want to with it. I want to use a unversal remote w/ my MCE 2005 Receiver. Can this be done? If so do I need a plugin or something for the remote (I have one for MCE)? Anything else I should know before I buy this?

Yes you can use Girder with the MCE receiver. Be sure to try the trial version and the MCE plugin. You will need to teach your universal remote the MCE remote commands.

Is there anyway of during it without learning the MCE Remote? It seems like the signal is not as strong when you "learn" a command.
