I started using a Xitel HiFi-Link usb audio adapter and it looks like the built-in usb audio drivers ignore the system volume setting. It seems that the the only way to control volume is through the Wave volume setting.

I started using the internal volume setting in Media Center, but a lot of content isn't controlled by internal volume, for example any real audio stream.

Does anyone have any workarounds, or experience with other usb-audio devices that are controllable through the system volume? Posted some questions about this on the Interact site and got no answers. Xitel tells me there's nothing they can do because they're using the built-in XP drivers. I could write my own volume control to mirror the system volume to the wave volume, but that seems pretty hacky. Do the creative usb audio cards come with drivers that behave differently?

You can use NR <-> Girder to do this.
