Default Does "Device Disable" actually work?

I'm trying to use this to enable and disable the X10 firecracker module and my Serial IR module so that they can share a serial port, but a) doesn't seem to be working and b) how would I know if it works - I don't see anything change in the plugin page when I do it analagous to what happens when enabling or disabling groups.....

How do you have 2 devices on one serial port?

The firecracker module has a "passthrough" port.

So I can run either the firecracker or the IR receiver, but not both. Since the firecracker is "send only" and only sends out stuff twice a day (once to turn lights on, once to turn them off), it ought to be straightforward to just use the device enable/disable to make it work, but so far, no luck......

Are you using the Serial plugin or the FireCracker plugin?

The FireCracker plugin doesn't support the Girder enable/disable commands. You can tell this by the status at the bottom of the Girder window. When you try to disable the FireCracker device (110), you get the message "Cannot disable plugin 110".

The Serial plugin includes a device file for the FireCracker device. The Serial plugin support commands that disable individual serial devices. It also supports setting the port from COMx to no port. This should allow the port to be shared.
