Default X10 vs. UPB vs. Z-Wave vs. ?

X10 has the most products and the most support here, but the stuff kind of sucks.

UPB and Z-wave both look better, but don't seem to have plugins?

For lighting/HVAC integration with Girder, what are people recomending these days?

Well, its pretty difficult to say at this time, as these new techs are just now beginning to come to market (or will soon). I recommend waiting a bit to see what will happen.

That said, UPB and Insteon are the ones I'm keeping an eye on. Z-wave got off to a bit of a rocky start (modules burning out, when a bulb blew), but new products are slowly making their way to consumers: A Z-wave T-stat was just released.

And another reason why I like Insteon...

At this time, I'm just sitting on the sidelines and watching all of this unfold.

It will be interesting to see what shakes out

We are planning on Insteon and ZWave plugins for G4.

I do not know about UPB.

Insteon looks like it might be the ticket. Website says products available 2nd quarter 2005 - anybody seen anything yet?

We have a couple of developers kits but that's it. I am guessing this is going to late to market...
