    Default Stuck - Help Needed

Hello... after 6 hours of reading nearly every topic posted on this forun for the last 6 months..

I have a failure to understand.

What I am trying to do:
Stream live tv via the service provided by Orb.com
-- they require a IR blaster to control the set top box

    I have:
    Girder 3.3.9
    USB-URIT
    Win TV PVR 150
    WinTV irremote.dll
    USB-URIRT in plug-in

    I cannot:
    turn off my TV (Mitsu)
change volume on my amp (yamaha)
change chanels on my satellite rcvr (Phillips)

    I can:
Using the WMP9 CML file control WMP
I can create a new group, a new command, select the plug-in tab and change settings. I can click on learn and girder will (apparently) learn the code (for example power off). but the TV will not turn orr, the satellite box will not change the channel and the volume stays the same.

    I would like:
To have the orb software recognize the USB-UIRT blaster and aloow me to stream live tv.

Help? Thoughts? Bullets to put me out of my misery?

I don't believe that ORB supports the USB-UIRT.. or an IR device for that matter.

I tried ORB a while back, when it first became free, so I could be (and probably am) wrong.

I left recordings and channel changing up to BeyondTV (my PVR app). I would then only use ORB to play recorded content; Orb would "steal" the tuner from BTV if I went to LiveTV... It did release them after 1 minute, but it had the potential to mess up recordings.

As far as controlling other devices via usb-UIRT...

Learning commands, say to control your tv:

    Make a new command
    In the lower-left ~Plug-in tab, choose USB-UIRT.
    Click ~Settings
    The driver config should pop-up
    Click on Learn
Hold your TV's remote about 2 inches away from the receiver.
Press button and hold until the Learning process stops (a second or so)
The new command will now control whatever button your TV remote would.

    Hope this helps,
    Treetop

    Found this:

    Question:
What are the IR Blasters supported by Orb?
    Solution:
If your TV setup includes a Set-Top Box: To change TV channels in Orb you will need a Microsoft MCE-compatible Infra-Red (IR) Blasters (which usually comes bundled with the MCE remote control).

The following Remote Controls include IR Blasters supported by Orb:

    * Philips Media Center Remote Control
    * SMK Remote Control for Windows XP Media Center Edition
    * Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Remote Control
    * Hewlett Packard Remote Control for Windows XP Media Center Edition

Important: Please note also that when you setup your IR Blaster in Orb, it is the Set-Top Box's Remote Control that Orb needs to detect, not the remote control that comes with the IR Blaster.

Note: For a list of supported Set-Top Boxes, please see Solution # 1-3QH5W9: "What are the Set-Top Boxes (STB) supported by Orb?"
