I just bought the packard bell remote with serial port IR reciever and cant get it to work. I read one of the how-to pages for this remote, followed everythign and it would not recieve any signals. I thought i had a driver problem so i formatted (which i do about every two months anyway), and after installing Girder, and the Igor plugin, and setting the plugin to the correct port (COM1), and settin the remote to DCD (all like the page told me), it still will not work. After i do all of this, i press F9 to enable the device, and when i press buttons on the remote nothing happens, it does not recieve any signals. Can anyone help me????

I don't have one of these receivers so I don't know if this will work. Maybe moving the receiver to COM2 and re-configuring the IGOR to the same port wil do the trick? As I said, I don't know if this will work. Sorry.

    Default Laptops and voltage issues.

    http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/trouble.html

Your voltages aren't correct (symptoms: no signals are received when you click "Raw Codes")

Some computers, especially laptops, are known to have non-standard voltages on the comport.
