Default test command does not work

i assume the following should work but it does not.

Open girder, select "edit" then "add command".

Select "learn event" then press button on remote (power on dvd for example).

Girder displays "Captured IR code". everything ok so far.

With "EventString" highlighted in Girder window selecting "Commands" then "Test Command" should execute then command and the dvd should power on, but it does not.

    What am I doing wrong?

    thanks.

Event strings are the input to Girder, not the output.

You don't say which IR blaster you're using, but I suspect this works the same for each of them.

Down at the bottom right of the Girder window is a row of tabs.

Select the plugins tab - you should find the plugin for your IR blaster there. I think you normally press the Settings button to learn a new IR command.

Default can i create a remote to be operated from PC?

this worked. now i can send a command by selecting it and then pressing "F5". thanks.

now the next obvious question, can i create a screen with buttons on it and assign these commands to a button?

i assume this can be done but have no idea how to do it.

there appears to be no such editing functions within girder.

do i need another program to do this? thanks again.

i'm using usbuirt to send/receive commands.

The easiest way to do this is using NetRemote which will work on both Win32 and PocketPC devices.

Or do you want to do this on your TV?

i've got netremote pro/por+IR suite. when i open netremote two things happen.

    1) I get the following message.

"The girder plugin can cannect to a server, but cannot begin a seesion. Please double check that configured password in both Girder and the Girder plugin match."

I see no way of changing this password, in fact I see of no way to even view it.

    2) If i click "ok" on the error dialogue box it goes away. I now have two pulldown menus. "File" and "Help".

Under "File" I have three choices:

    1) Load (either "Interface File (CCF)" or "Interface Skin"

    2) Properties

    3) Exit

None of these appear to lead to an option of linking girder commands to a graphical interface.

    Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    File|Properties|Plugins

You should then find an instance of the Girder Plugin (normally with the number -1)

Select that and then press the Properties button

Normally you would find that it uses port 1024 and password 'girder'

    In Girder go to File|Settings

On the plugins tab, make sure that Internet Event Server is enabled, and press the Settings button. Check that the password and port are 'girder' and 1024. Also, enable 'Allow All'

ok so that worked too. thank you. now netremote and girder both open without error messages.

so next step is to get a "button" created in netremote and to get that to execute a girder command.

any help? really appreciate your quick response. thanks.

    Easy enough

Add your button, in the actions tab add an IR action.

Use this for the IR code

    Code:
    5001 0000 0000 0002 ffff 0000 0001 0000
And give it the name of the Girder event you want to execute.

hmmmm. my netremote only has the following menu options:

    File|Load|Interface File (CCF)
    File|Load|Interface Skin
    File|Properties
    File|Exit
    Help|Online Documentation
    Help|Registration Info
    Help|Upgrade Registration
    Help|Check for Updates
    Help|About

    plus the following buttons:
    "Getting Started"
    "Zoom Player"
    "Media Bridge"
    "Web Browser"
    Mouse Mode (Girder)"
    "Infrared"
    "Avid Utils Tests"

nowhere can i see anything like "edit" or add button" or "draw".

    under "Help|About" it says i have NetRemote Pro+IR 1.1.0.31

if i go to the online documentation i see that "IR Learn Mode" appears on the screen shot but not in my version. the documentation also states that "IR Learn Mode" is available only for PPC. I'm using this on a laptop running windows XP. did i get the wrong version of netremote?
