    Default mjextman (MC11.exe) and MediaBridge

Hi. I'm trying to create a girder event that will play a particular playlist. I've been trying to use "MC11.exe" (formerly mjextman.exe) to send a command but Media Center doesn't respond. In fact, it won't respond to any command like that at all? Does this have anything to do with MediaBridge... do I need to send the command through MB2 somehow?

Does it work when MediaBridge isn't running?

Do a search in the JRMC forum. There are lots of users complaining about MC failing to respond to MC11.exe.

I solved the problem by converting to using Windows Message commands instead (requires send message plug in to be enabled in Girder). I've made an assumption there that you are using Girder ops:

Any chance you might post those messages? I've been looking at the JRMC forum all day to find nothing of any help. It used to work great in 10 but forget it in 11

tomgrossi - I'll wager a month's wages (don't get excited) that when MC11 doesn't seem to work, checking the processes in task manager will show the JRMC instance as "MEDIAC~1.EXE"....am I right? I think our friend Mastiff may have some clues on this as well, 'cuz IIRC, it was he that pointed to that issue on the Interact forum over at JRiver. I *think* I've got mine working right, but I've got to launch Media Center first, without allowing MB to create the instance. It may also have something to do with real-time virus scanning/checking, so you might include both the Media Center.exe and MC11.exe in any exclusion list you can specify. In any event, good luck, and be sure to report back your experiences.

Yeah, I mentioned it on the Interact forum and got a promise that it will be fixed in not too long.

    Hmm,

Well the sendmesages seem to work ok, (ie play, stop, pause etc.)but the playlists are now broken. Uggh! I only upgraded because I was having trouble syncing my protable Dell DJ 20 wtih MC through the net. Now nothing of the kind.

Yes, you are right, I have a ~ in my task manager. I've been reading al day and just can't quite get it yet. I saw the post on JRMC forum saying it will be fixed soon, but don't remember when it was posted.

EDIT: I think we can rule out any kind of Virus scanning, I don't have anti-virus software on my media server... It's protected by my own hardware firewall and only used for media playing.

The issue is fixed with the new version downloadable at the Interact forum, posted yesterday. The only remaining issue for NetRemoters (as far as I know) is the crash occuring when starting MC with Media Bridge and then closing MB again, which closes MC.
