Default Netremote very slow with Dell x50v except with old versions

Hello and congratulations for this great program !

I've just bought an axim x50v and tryed netremote on it: it's really cool except the IR mode: like some others x50v's owners, mine is responding very slowly when I push a button: and more you push button, slower it is:

    for exemple,
    pushing 1 time vol+ = 1s
    pushing 2 times vol+=3s
    3 =6s

I tried turning off bips and selecting "send at button release" it doesn't work more...

I've also put the cpu at 624 mhz, but it doesn't work either...

The only way I can make it work is by installing an october 2004 version which had the option "disable blink" (Toshiba FIx). Sonce my x50v is also a VGA model maybe there's a link...

Do you understand why last versions are so slow on many x50v and is there a way to "disable blink" in last versions ?

    Thank you in advance !

Hi Eric - Is it only slow with IR, or with everything? Can you send me your CCF and I'll attempt to recreate the problem on my x50v?

Hi and thank you for your fast answer

well, it's just slow with IR, Mediabridge is excellent and very fast !

my CCF is the default one...

why the "disable blink" option doesn't appear in last versions and could you explain me what it means ?

The blink is disable all of the time now (at one time NetRemote would flash the little light on the PPC when an action happened). Because this caused some problems, we removed the blinking altogether.

So you learned your IR actions to the buttons that are available via the default one? Which version of NetRemote?

I'm assuming you're using direct IR, not a GlobalCache device, right?

    ok thanks

well I've tried the versions from 23 jul 05 and 19 mar 05 and another none I can't retrieve...

Yes I've learnt the codes to nr with the default CCF, direct IR.

Can you please use ActiveSync (or similar) to copy the file from \My Documents\NRCCF to your desktop so that you may email it to me? I'd like to try directly against your file.

I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

    Thanks Eric.

well, no problem ! It's just that now it's the old version installed so I need to reinstall one of the new versions to copy the file.

I'm gonna sleep too, i'm sending it to you tomorrow, thank you very much for you support and sweet dreams !

well, I just understood, the old version was not slow because is was qvga !

I tryed installing new vga skin in the old version and it's slow too...

But apparently it seems to depend from what ccf I use... for exemple the IR VGA ccf is not slow... so I'll try to find or to build a ccf not slowing my x50v...

Apart from that I really wonder how a device with a 640 Mhz CPU and a graphical chip capable of running 3D games with incredible animations can be slow at this point just clicking on a button !

Thank you for the support !

Yes, the differences are with how much of the screen is being used with semi-transparent images.

The PPC itself doesn't support alpha-blended images while allowing for use of standard fonts, so we have our own alpha enabling rendering methods, which is not currently capable of using the hardware acceleration on the PPC.

Windows Mobile 5 (2005) does have support for alpha blending, and once we have this running in-house we will see about implementing this if available (else drop down to our software renderer).
