Ever since upgrading to the latest NRD and NR 2.0 beta, and using GAC+ in my layout I'm getting constant crashes in NRD when trying to save my work. As soon as NRD goes to launch NR prior to the 'save', I get an error on launching NR that names ntdll.dll as the culprit, followed by an NRD error complaining about .NET and a COM object.
If I launch this same ccf in NR alone, without NRD open, NR works fine. I've tried specifiying a different file name before saving, but no luck. This sucks b/c I cannot make changes to my ccf and save them. I've attached both error logs and a screenshot. Let me know what else I can do to help track this issue down.
Added Note:
If I start NRD for the 1st time with the ccf that I'm currently working on, both NR and NRD start up fine, ccf is loaded in NR, etc. The problem begins once I make edits to the CCF and then hit 'save', and it tries to reload in NR before NRD continues with saving. The first error I will get is 'server threw an exception' (screenshot attached below)- NR shows a blank white screen as if it was unable to fully load the ccf, then if I go to load another ccf i start getting the ntdll error..
hi Promixis gurus- Can someone please help me with this today, I know everyone is busy however I really can't do a darn thing with my ccf's until this is fixed. I'm having these probs with any ccf I load up / work on, including the example ccf's.
ntdll.dll keeps biting the big one, which causes NR to not load, which causes NRD to not save.
The latest version will still save your file (appending a .new). This is something definitely screwy going on. I'm investigating, but cannot replicate so it's hunt and peck here.
Thanks for the reply Guys- I've literally been pulling my hair out over this.
I also uninstalled and reinstalled .NET v1, re-added 1.1 updates, and installed .NET 2.0
I'll download and install the .27 version later this afternoon and let you know how it goes.
Right now my boss insists I stay at work and not go home to work on my HA system.. (the nerve of that guy... :P )
ok- been playing around with the new version of NRD, I initially did not have any problems for the first few opens / saves, then the same problem started happening again.
First I work on a ccf, then I go to save it. Then I get an error from NR when it tries to auto-launch before NRD does the save. The NR error is pointing at ntdll.dll. Then I click ok, the error message hangs for 20 seconds, then closes and NR never launches. Then I get an app error from NRD complaining about a COM object not being registerd. I have attached the error log below. I can click 'continue' and keep NRD open, but I can't save anything and I have to shut both NR and NRD down / relaunch to 'fix' it temporarily.
If I already have NR open, and go to do the save in NRD, I get the same errors, but if you look at the NR interface it is blank-white, like it failed on loading the ccf. Now, this is not just happening with my ccf's but it happens with the default.ccf and the NR_Music600x800.ccf as well. Sometimes I can manage to save my work to another folder outside of NR directory, and sometimes I can't and get the same error.
If I open any of my ccf's without NRD open, NR loads them up just fine. It seems to be stemming from a problem with NRD when it hands off the ccf to NR.

I'm going to email you my ccf and lua file- I just started converting all of the music functions to GAC+. However, some things still don't work b/c i'm still trying to figure out the commands. For example, in the library view if I sort by artist, then click on an artist to see the child of that, it returns the child results but will not clear the screen of the parent objects (say I have 8 items in the child, 1-8 are retuned and displayed but 9-18 items from the parent still stay on the screen. -anyway, if you try it you'll see what I mean.
Thanks for your help Ben, hopefully the issue will recreate for you- or, maybe I just need to pull an 'office space' on my p.o.s. laptop.... heh
What I would suggest trying is opening my ccf in NR on same box as you are running NRD. open the ccf in NRD, and open another differnt ccf (I usually have two different ccf's open) - do some edits to my ccf, and then save it to the NR directory.
Do the edit / save thing a few times and the problem should start to pop up while both NR and RND are running at the same time.
