link keyboard to netremote buttons
Hi.
I am using netremote on my PocketPC and laptop to control my MediaServer with Netremote using a downloaded CCF file: no problem. However, I have a tiny Keyboard (Kaiboard - a USB mouse/keypad device to do presentations with and some keyboard functionality) and a small 7" VGA screen linked to the mediaserver now to also control it directly and to read out what is playing. The only problem is that I made a CCF file on the server to fit the 7" screen and some buttons. I only now need to link a few buttons from the Kaiboard (like up for louder, right for next song, left for previous song etc.) to the buttons on the screen so I can operate it as well.
I am a newbies on designing CCF's but I managed to operate it with the mouse. If the screen would also be a touchscreen there would not be any problem, but I have to use the Kaiboard.
My question: can I link key presses from the keyboard (or in my case the Kaiboard) to the buttons I see on the Netremote screen using my 800x480 sized CCF?
Thanks for your answer. Vince

You can configure a limited number of keys as 'hotkeys' - go to File|Properties and select the hotkeys tab.

Allright, I think you were talking about hardkeys? I have attached the fle I have setup, but the keys do not seem to have any effect. Is this the wrong setup? I wanted to configure left arrow for previous song and right arrow for next song.

Second, I also have a PCTV remote IR recevier on my serial port. If I set this up on the PC it can recieve information from a remote control. Will this work in NetRemote? Then I can avoid using the Kaiboard and just use a remote to send these commands. As far as I know Netremote is only capable of sending IR commands and not to receive them
Thanks again for your feedback! Vince

They're called Hardkeys in NRD, but NR refers to them as HotKeys in the File|Properties dialog. Have you actually bound your keyboard keys using that dialog?
NR won't read from your PCTV IR receiver as you guessed. I'm not sure if Girder supports the PCTV - try searching here in the Girder forums to see if it's supported.

Thanks rah99!! I
guess the manual would have told me the same but I didnt bother reading it
I also find out that I can have my remote send keys via an IR reciever so it actually solved two problems in one...
RTFM next time!!
