Default One for All Pc Media Remote and Girder

    Hi.
It is my first message in the forum, greetings to all.

I have bought the One for all Pc Media Remote (also called Oneforall URC-9040).
This remote can control Tv, Sep top box and amplifier (or any other hi-fi device).
It also includes a usb RF adaptor to control the Pc.
I want to use Girder 4 to assign the keyboard keys to my remote control.
Girder recognizes it as a keyboard with 3 keys only but it identifies each key of the remote control with a different code in the Girder's left low corner.
Could I use these codes to configure my control?

Thanks and sorry for my English.

You may be able to use it as a HID device. Enable the HID plugin and see if it appears in the list of devices on the HID tab.

HID tab shows two devices called "SIMPLE DEVICESMediaRemote USB Receiver".

Girder continues recognizing it as a keyboard with 3 keys only but each pulsation associates it to a different code.
I can also move with the remote control for the different applications of the initial screen of Girder.

    Some idea or suggestion?

    Thanks.

have you tried dragging those codes that appear in your logger to an action as an event?

No, I am beginning with Girder and I have only tried to use the assistant to add a new remote control.
    How I can make this?

    Thanks

I have the same problem with the urc 9040 ! It looks like the signals are not passed thru to girder because you can use the right left and up down buttons like the keyboard arrows! Could not somebody of the experts give us a hint!!

    Please!

No, we cannot change this behaviour.

Thank you for your quick - but dissapointing - answer!

Does that mean that this remote will never be usable with girder? Or is it a question of a different plugin to be written?

I have the same remote on a system with only the remote, no keyboard. In the default way the keyboard plugin allows you to get most of the keys but there are two problems:

    1) Some buttons arent recognized
    2) Besides being passed to Girder, the keys also get processed the normal way in windows (especially annoying for some buttons since they are mapped to system keys.

What I did is simply block all the buttons in Girder by using the KeyboardEX plugin, and then assign command for each button in Girder.

Step 1: Install the KeyboardEX plugin
Step 2: Use the KeyboardEX (driver) plugin to Block ALL buttons
Step 3: Create a command for each button, and use the learn event function for the approriate KeyboardEX event.

This works for my case, but for those who also use a normal keyboard it might not (since those are now also blocked).

ps... O.... one more very important thingy. I use girder 3, dont know if the keyboardEX plugin (or similar) is available for 4

    Unhappy

Thank you for this valuable information! Since I am using a cordless Logitech keyboard (USB) at the same time I probably stand no chance

Too bad, because it would have been a nice solution to use the nondirective RF-link to control Zoomplayer on the PC and at the same time use the IR for my Satellite STB and the Plasma display. Now probably have to install a long IR receiver cable for the PC next to my display and use a conventional IR RC.

Thank you again! At least I got an answer with some insight!
