    Default OnAir USB HDTV-GT Support?

I'm having difficulty getting the remote provided with the OnAir USB HDTV-GT to be recognized by Girder. Is there a plugin compatible with this, or is there something else I should be doing?

The device is an all-in-one USB HDTV receiver; the IR receiver is built-in and there's no separate HID or other device for it in XP's device manager.

See www.autumnwave.com for details on the device.

    Thanks!

No, sorry if I was unclear in my original post. There's only one entry in Device Manager for it -- "USB HDTV-GT Video Capture (ATSC/NTSC)" under the "Sound, video and game controllers" category. No HID device. No serial COM devices.

The software has a "Remocon" applet that inhabits the system tray, receives button presses from the remote, and controls the bundled TV program. I'd rather use a different program, and I'm hoping to use Girder to control it, but I can't seem to intercept whatever Remocon sees.

    Thanks for looking into it.

Would be nice if it was a hid device

Can their program send keystrokes G4 can use?

I didn't see an API on their website.

Yes, I wish it were an HID device too!

I can't tell how the Remocon (remote control) program is interacting with the TV viewer program. I ran Winspector for a while and monitored Windows messaging as I pressed buttons on the remote, to see if I could discern any button-specific messages being passed between the programs. I couldn't find anything useful.

Unfortunately, if Remocon is sending keystrokes, it's only sending them to the TV viewer application it is attached to. I can't get it to send them anywhere else -- there's no useful Options for the program, no configuration file, and nothing in the registry that might help. It appears hard-coded.

I have asked about this in the AVS Forum thread dedicated to the OnAir GT -- a tech for Autumnwave, Ryan Pertusio (rpertusio), monitors that thread and might respond. If he does, I will let you know. Perhaps he can give you the information needed.

I think both parties would benefit from Girder support being available!

Making a HID device would require some driver modifications. We don't have a timeline for getting a driver with HID support.

However, we have recently released v3.00P of our software, which allows you to map the remote control keys to external programs, or keyboard input. (Right-click the 'Remocon' program while it is running, and the Options window will let you assign/create a keymap!)

We have created this feature for you, Champ! I hope you (and others) find it very useful.

    Enjoy!
