Promixis Girder 5 BETA soon!!

Dear customers,

We are proud to announce that Girder 5 is in heavy development and
nearing it's first public beta. Some of the new features that Girder
5 will offer are:

1. Vista Compatibility for all versions

We are testing and modifying Girder 5 to work smoothly work with
Windows Vista.

2. Watchdog

The Watchdog will keep en eye on Girder and it's plugins. If
something goes wrong
and Girder can no longer run, the watchdog will step up and
restart Girder.

3. Device Manager (Pro)

This fabulous new feature will save you countless hours setting
up your house
controls. You configure what devices you have in your house once
inside Girder and from there
on every Promixis Automation Product! With Girder's integrated
web server, the Device Manager automatically builds web pages of
all your devices so you can control them from anywhere. Combined
with NetRemote 2.0, the new Device Manager will automatically
generate interfaces to control your devices.


4. Component Manager (All)

A centralized system for add and managing extensions to Girder 5.
Makes adding extensisons to Girder easy. Components can be
writting in Lua or any language that compiles into a DLL that
Girder can load. Works with existing plugins as well, replacing
the previous plugin manager

5. Overhauled UI (All)

For Girder 5 we are reworking some of the ways in which Girder's
UI works. We've taken your input and
are making Girder 5 even more user friendly.


Upgrading
We give a discount of 50% of the purchase price of the previous version for the new Girder version. Example:

Just a quick question.

Will the new Girder 5 Pro allow for Whole House usage?

I dont see a Whole House version for V5?

Yes, the Pro version is a whole home license.

I was going to upgrade to Whole Home G4 anyway.

One final question. With G5 still being Alpha/Beta - I dont want to upset my production HTPC.

I plan to Install G5 on my X10 Control and Media Server, but leave G4 working on my HTPC Primary.

So to the question already:

Will G4 & G5 play nice across a network as they will need to talk to each other in my set-up?

Hi Bob, the standard version of G5 will not be functionally all that different from G4. So unless you are using the home automation features of Girder and NetRemote there will not be (at least at this time) much reason to upgrade.

Mike, is sounds like there well be a V5 STD version. Great! Having just purchased the V4 STD version this month, I was interested if I would be allowed to upgrade to the V5 STD at little or no cost.

The Girder 5 STD will be pretty much the same as the Girder 4 STD so yes you will be allow to upgrade at little or no cost.
