Default How to resize / compress lots of images?

I've been having some problems with Cover art being shown in some of my GAC requests and I've narrowed it down to the fact some of my folder.jpg files are several Mb in size. So what I want to do is go through my whole library and fix them all so they are a lot smaller. There will be 000's of files so I wondered if anyone knows of some software that could save me some time?

Photoshop looks like it would be really slow as it's 1 file at a time. Microsoft Office Picture Manager has a nice function to compress the size really quickly but again it's one file at a time (unless they are all in the same folder which they are not).

    Any thoughts?
