G517 upgrade erases config

Hi Guys,

I just upgraded from G516 to G517. I uninstalled the previous version like requested.

By doing so - all my Device Manager stuff was erased. Is there anyway to prevent this in the future.

Stacks of work required to reinstate all the devices.

There's an install option that specifies whether you want to install for just the current user or all users. If you change this from what you specified the last time you installed it then it will use a different directory to store the config files.

Go to File|Settings|General and select the logging tab - this will show you the current logs directory - on my PC this is set to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Promixis\Girder\5\Logs. The config directory is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Promixis\Girder\5\Config.

The important part here is \All Users\, if yours is set to that then you'll probably find your old configs in a similar path, but with your username instead of All Users. Alternatively, if yours is set to your username, then you'll find the configs in the All Users version.

The installer should probably either warn you if this is changed from the last install, or offer the option to migrate from the alternate directory.
