DM & Global Cached - Advantages?

I just noticed the G517 has The GlobalCache as a device item.

What are the advantages of using the Device Manager of the old Treescript approach?

If there is no major advantage, then I will leave my GML's as is.

If there is an advantage such that we get confirmed delivery status from the GC, or something else just as exciting - then I will start the long process of updating my GML's to make use of the GC transport.

Please advise.

Well I enabled it to see what would happen and I get the following error in the LOG

Error in CallBack  OnConnectionCheck.  See lua console for more details.

It occurs every 1 minute continuously.

After enabling the plugin, did you bring up the settings for the GlobalCache component and set the port and IP address?

please post the log output.

advantages...

monitors feedback from the GC - so easier use of relays. allows for use of IR inputs as sensors. IR more or less is the same. plugin monitors connection to the GC.

I haven't tried. I didn't know there was a new release. Will need to check on the weekend and get back to you.

Upgraded tonight.

This seems to be working now. Will monitor over the next few days.

I only have a few signals being sent through the Device Manager, the rest are using the old style GC commands from the Treescript.
