Default Basic debug steps when moving to G5

Can I get some basic guidance on things to check when a migration from Girder 4 to 5 doesn't work?

I have a ccf where the variables created by a serial plugin (DenonReceiver.lua) won't display when Girder 5 is used.

I don't see the DenonReceiver.lua in the Component Manager?
    Is that my problem?
How do I get it to show up?

    Thanks

The DenonReceiver plugin isn't currently a component so it won't show under Component Manager - it should still be shown on the Serial tab of the plugins page.

It does show on the Serial tab under plugins in G5.
    What else should I check?

    Thanks

Make sure that you're using the same DenonReceiver.lua that you were using under G4 - you should have installed G5 to a different directory so the original should still be there.

The DenonReceiver.lua under the G5 directory had a newer date stamp than the version I had under G4. I copied the DenonReceiver.lua version from the G4 directory into the serial plugin folder under G5 and restarted Girder5.
The behavior was the same. All the values for the Denon variables are blank except Denon.Receiver.Zone2.Volume and Denon.Receiver.Main.Volume
