Default Which version of Girder should I buy?

    Hi

I've been trying to find out which are the major differences between pro and standard versions of Girder. I did find the list in product descriptions but what I do not know is that will the additional features of the pro help me in any way with my htpc which I would control with Girder.

If I buy standard now is it possible to upgrade it to Pro if needed?

I strongly depends on what you need to do for your HTPC. And yes you can always upgrade. Just contact sales@promixis.com there might be a 1 or 2 dollar difference in price (to cover CC costs here).

If I buy a licence for girder 5 will I also get a licence for G4 too? For example if some 3rd party plugins will not work with G5?

Don't see a response to this, so I am bumping the discussion.

I am setting up a home theatre, and Girder seems like the solution to let me get down to one remote (Logitech Harmony 720).

However, the decision between V4 and V5 is unclear, and there is nothing on the web site to say how things will work when V5 is released.

If I buy V4 now, do I get a free upgrade to V5?

If I buy V5 now, do I get a license to V4? Paying full price for a beta product is a bit of a push.

Is V5 backwards compatible for plugins? I assume not, given the way V4 and V5 plugins are listed seperately, but that could just be a tracking mechanism, so it seems like a fair question.

Will scripts written for V4 work in V5? If now, will there be a translation utility, to bring them into V5 conformance?

My apologies if all these questions have been answered - my browsing of the forums (as a guest) and the web site has not found them.

USB-UIRT shows as out of stock, and has been showing this since before I got my Harmony 720 remote control.

I have an MA620 USB IrDA device, but comments found when I searched for it indicate that "This is an IRDA device and does not do consumer IR". Whatever that means, beyond implying that it won't work.

If the USB-UIRT is not available, and IrDA devices don't work, what other options are there to receive the IR signals from my Harmony?

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: Duh! Just discovered that the USB-UIRT is not made by Promixis. The fact that the Promixis web site shows it as out of stock does not mean it is not available. Found the USB-UIRT web site, and ordered one. It may not be here for Christmas, but it will be here soon enough.....

Still curious if there are other devices available that will do the same job. Always like to have choices, and options, and backups in case the single souce of supply suffers setbacks.....

there are like global cache ip based models and irtrans but bang for buck this is the best option and works very well and can be integrated into xantech and other ir systems
