Q: Girder crashes on Vista 64.

A: Right click on 'My Computer' and choose Properties. In the
Advanced tab/panel, select the "Settings" button in the Performance
pane. Choose the "Data Execution Prevention" tab and switch DEP so
that it is enabled only for essential Windows programs or add Girder to the exception list.

A. If you have any Norton products installed please remove them they are the cause of the issue reported here:

A4. Apparently also RealPlayer's application that runs with Windows startup can cause this!

This is caused by a missing DLL, download the VS2008 redistributable from here:

Q. Girder won't start it just sits there with a yellow light and doesn't respond.

A. If you have dropbox installed it is possible that dropbox has taken the watchdog port and is confusing Girder. Close dropbox until we can put out a fix for this.
