Ok, try changing something on the receiver input,volume,etc... see if we get any messages. From the receiver itself.

Yes, something should. Sounds like you are not really connected. The cable between the Girder PC and the receiver, where did it come from? Is it something you made or did it come with the unit? Is the pin out of the cable correct?

    Hi Rick,

the serial cable came with my elo touchscreen as an alternative to usb

i have checked the elo website and it says the screen are controlled by

    Hardware handshaking: RTS/CTS.

i guess this is the problem?

RTS/CTS is flow control signaling. The cable probably will work. Need to further investigate connectivity issues. If the cable is pinned out properly, you should be able to connect the cable between the Girder PC and another PC, run Hyperterminal on both and send data back and forth.

    Hi Rick,

The cable is a male-female so i can't go pc-pc with this cable???

    I'd need female-female... or adapter... which I don't have....

I read somewhere that you can connect the pins manually to test...

    Is that a good idea???

    Would it work???

Another thing you can try is shutdown Girder and use Hyperterminal to test the connection between the Girder PC and the receiver. Make sure port and baud rate are set correctly in Hyperterminal. According to the protocol docs, when a state on the receiver changes it will transmit to the PC.
