Default New button components I'm working on

Just thought I'd share the design for a new set of buttons I'm creating and see what people think about the idea before I take it any further.

These buttons will be available in several sizes and colours and possibly shapes.

When pressed, the button itself, the glyph (in this case play) and the specular highlight will move, but the recess that surrounds it will not.

There is an optional glow, that can be turned on and off using a state variable, not yet sure whether to provide the glyphs in dark and light versions to indicate a state or not.

Let me know if you like the style of the button. Pretty much everything is mutable at this stage.

I'll try to provide a sample CCF over the weekend so you can see what the button looks like when pressed etc.

I did experiment with using transparent overlays but it didn't work too well.

I can generate the buttons in pretty much any colour as I'm using Xara Extreme which lets you base a colour on another one. Once I'm done I'll release the .xar file as well so people can make their own buttons if they have Xara.

    Default Very nice.

When you release them, could you make sure to include a 'blank' set for the ones we'll have to create ourselves?

    Thanks!

In fact they are blank anyway, the glyphs on the buttons are entirely separate.

Here's a couple of transport controls that show the use of buttons that contrast with the background.

I've had to put this on hold until I get a replacement for my motherboard I'm afraid.

This machine doesn't have the graphics package I use installed on it and I don't really want to load it down with too much extra software.

Default I waited to bump as long as I could...

...but I'm eager to use these for a new CCF I'm working on!

    So am I

I have done more work on this in the last couple of weeks, and will probably do a bit more soon. Graphics work can be very time consuming though

I currently have circular, rounded square in 6 sizes, with 5 base colours and 5 glow colours. There are also currently 91 glyphs that can be used in combination with these each in 6 sizes and 5 colours.

I'm in the middle of working on triangular (4 orientations) and pill-shaped (2 orientations), plus two styles of transport cluster and probably also a cursor cluster.
