Default Girder not sending commands to applications

    Hello,

    I'm running Windows 7 x64
    Girder 5.0.10 (544) (TRIAL)
    Xbox 360 universal remote
MCE drivers and services (the setup found in this forum)

The receiver is detected by girder, and i am able to configure the remote, meaning i can capture Play, Pause, and everything else in the wizzard.

When i press any button i configured on the remote i see the two green lights on the bottom left of the Girder window flash, and a code appear.

The problem is, it won't control any of my applications. I tried VLC, WMP, WMP Classic, nothing works.

I have checkmarks in the Girder main window next to all of these applications, so i'm assuming they're setup properly.

    Can someone help please.

As a follow-up, I even tried to use the keyboard as a "remote" and even though i mapped several keys in the wizzard, Girder is still not controlling any applications. Thank you

Try going into Expert mode, then using the F5 key to send commands to e.g. VLC. If that works then the window conditional may need updating to work with what may be a later version of the application.

The standard GMLs for VLC or MPC for example, often don't work for the newest versions of the programs because of the command's targetting.

Double click on the command and use the 'window picker' to update the target of the command itself and do the same for any 'window conditionals' you might have.

    Hey blubberhoofd,

I tried doing what you said, I double clicked on the pause/play command in the VLC GML and then opened the Window Picker. I selected the VLC window from the application tree, applied, tested, and still nothing.

I even tried Help, and followed the instructions and i seem to be following the correct procedure.

Looks like we need a new GML for recent VLC versions - it doesn't help that all the controls are unnamed which makes binding to them a little tricky.

I think it's more than just VLC. Like i mentioned in my post, WMP Classic doesn't work either. I think it has something to do with my system, or the way Girder installed. I'm not sure what though.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Don't know what to do.

Is it due to Windows 7 64 bits ? I had a lot of issues with software compatibility with the 64 bits version...

    Any updates from Promixis ?

It appears that the new VLC is using Qt, I've attempted to control that through Girder and are having trouble with that app as well. I'll tinker around a bit more as time permits.

W.r.t. Windows 7 in general, a quick test on notepad shows that Girder is still able to inject keystrokes using SendMessage, so in general Windows 7 has NOT broken Girder.
