    Hi,

First off, I'd like to thank Ron for tweaking say.dll. I can now use the command succesfully! A real relief from the strange method I had to use before...

    Now for the meat...

These suggestions are once again for say.dll

    1. Allow .direct. testing of say.dll from the dialog box, using a "test" button or similar.

    2. Increase the size of the text buffer, to allow longer messages (Because I'm greedy);^)
Maybe a user selectable buffer size, if some don't want whatever resource drag that doing so might cause...(Don't even know if it would make any difference, but just in case)

    1. Look at Say 1.2 on the download page

    2. Messages longer than 250 characters? Is that needed ?

Yep..That's what I was thanking you for!

Well, not exactly, no. It's just desired. I was trying to use it as a poetry player. The idea was to use Girder like a "spoken-word" WinAmp tpye application.(choose #1, poem #1 is spoken, choose #2...)
Not really important in the grand scheme of things, I suppose. Just an errant thought.

I'm not sure if you understood the "test" idea though. What I meant was that a single-button-click within the say.dll dialog would be easier to perform than using the "Girder main menu --> edit --> test command" method of seeing how it sounds. I don't know how much people know about it, but there are subtle ways of altering the speech algorithms, by using exclamation points, periods, parenthesis, question marks, etc, to augment the speech engine in interpreting selected words for output...

If you're ever interested in seeing what I mean, try the following:

    Hello?
    Hello!
    Hello
    (hello)

If thought out, all of the above can be used in construction of sentences. When done right, it can take what is usually a bland, monotonic vocalization, and make it even more like a real voice.

I think that if I could selectively (word by word) control the playback speed, it could get downright spooky...Too bad that Mickeysoft hasn't implemented higher order commands (user-level syntax) for that aspect of the speech engine though.

    I've gone way off-topic.

    regards,

    aj

In the 1.2 version of the plugin
there is a button in the dialog
it self to test the playback.

    Sorry...

    I spoke too soon (haha).

Somehow, I thought that when you sent the fix for that first prob, the repair _was_ v1.2...I wasn't thinking straight.

Thank you! I didn't imagine that you'd add it immediately!

    Muchos gracias, Ron. Perfect!

    Andrew
