Default Generic "Burst" Driver for Girder...

I've got a serious problem (with a remote control / IR receiver of a DIGN/Accent HTPC Case) getting the RC to work.
I seem to need a "Burst" Driver for that remote control.
Under IRAssistant exists such a Driver, here it's description:

General burst IR-driver for IR-receivers that sends a burst of pulses of various lengths. Tested with IR-receiver introduced in Finnish MikroBitti magazine 11/99. See included readme.txt for more information. This simple and cheap circuit works with this driver.
However, IRAssistant isn't beeing development anymore and is by far not as powerful as Girder.

I already tried the avaible Girder Plugins (Generic UIR that ships with the exe, the IGOR Driver, and the "Generic Serial Device Driver"), they all do receive "something", but no codes that i can use (different lengths, the same for all keys etc.). The "Generic Serial Device Driver" was far to much for me to configure, i played around several hours with fixed and variables length but with no useful results.

Has anyone an idea? I really would like to use girder instead of IRAssistant...

    TNX a lot!

Have you tried the Generic Serial IR plugin (by Valery Karkachev)?

Is the source for the IRAssistant Burst driver available?

yes, as mentioned i tried id. i receive some signals, but nothing that is useful. seems crippled (many 0000). i played around with the settings a while, but there wasn't any kind of even partial success.

afaik the source is not avaiable, nor do i have the eMail of its author (last version is of 2000, so quite old)

so, i managed to get my remote control to work using girder and the igor plugin. it was however necessary to do a very small modification the the serial port connector.

if you've got the same problem with the following hardware i might post some details.

DIGN/Accent HTPC Case with IR Receiver and Accent Remote Control.

I can't help but thinking that cross-wiring the pins may not be the best solution. It's great that it works, but as I understand it, the Accent/DIGN remote communicates by sending bursts of different "stuff" instead of by sending clear, recognizable codes. That's the reason the signal line is wired the way it is.

Wish there was a burst driver for Girder as well.

sure its not the best solution, but its the only one. it is absolutely unimportant to which pin the signal is send. you may still use IRAssistant because nothing is changend. however you may at least try to experiment with girder. for me, it now works good.
and yes, you're right. the RC sends variable length of bursts AND codes, the igor plugin seems to be the only one, that can somehow handle this codes.

    however, its everyone's one decision...

True, Ancient, it seems to be the only way FOR THE TIME BEING, but that does not mean it is the only way EVER. If IRAssistant can understand bursts, then surely Girder can be made to understand them as well.

I'm not particular good with a soldering iron and I have big, clumsy fingers So I posted in this post, hoping that someone had found an alternative to changing the wiring in the COM port connector.
