    What is the formula that you use to store the IR strings?

    Is it possible to convert the text displayed on the screen into a series of waveforms?

    Does this string include carrier frequency information? Start? Stop? Pause? etc?

    That depends on the device you are using. If you have the RedRat you can translate it back to waveforms. I'm not aware of any other devices that do that.
