Default X10/ATI remote and Windows XP: CRASH.

    hi!

I am using Girder 3.3 under Windows XP Pro (tried w/ updates and without) together with the X10/ATI Remote Plugin 1.4.
Now, after I installed Girder it runs fine. The installation of the Plgin runs ok, too.
But when I try to activate the plugin (File-settings-Plugins-Generic X10 Plugin checkbox ON) and go OK or Apply, Girder crashes. Everytime. The Problem-Report Windows wants to send home contains this:

    AppName: girder.exe AppVer: 3.3.0.0 ModName: genx10.dll
    ModVer: 1.4.0.0 Offset: 000015ab

I tried re-installing Windows (I am _that_ desperate) but to avail. I tried deinstalling and re-installing the Plugin and / or Girder, still nothing. Got any help for a desperate user?

    Thanx in advance,
    Christian.

    Hi Christian,

First question - is the ATI software running?

Next, use the search function and search the system folders for "x10net*.*" and report the file dates you get back.

    Then try this driver ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/applications/f...cker/xfire.exe

    Hi Mike,

I dont have any ATI software running, my X10 remote comes from MEDION, a germany-based ODM computer manufacturer.
I have their drivers installed, and, as I forgot to mention, had this setup running at one time in the past. I then returned to a Norton Ghost Image I made earlier in May and re-installed girder - boom, it crashed. Thus I am pretty sure it works somehow, I just don't know why it doesnt any more...

Search for x10net*.* yielded no files found.

I installed the firecracker-app, but what now? I already have my MEDION X10 drivers installed, how do I change the dreiver used to the firecracker-one?

    Regards,
    Christian.

    What Girder version?

When you do the search, you have to include the system directories.

he said version 3.3 up top (or do you mean for him to be more specific as to b/c or whatnot?).

also, if you run the executable with the generic x10/ati remote plugin, it should install the x10 remote drivers.... IF FOR SOME REASON that doesn't work (i already had those installed, so i cannot say for sure) go to x10.com and download the "firecracker" drivers, it will install the drivers you need for them.

    Hello .........

I have the same problem as Grin Reaper ..

After installing the software (newest version) and entering the key ...
    no problem encounters ....

Then I had installed the x10-plugin without any error.

But after activating the plugin in the settings of girder ... the program crashes
and the system wants to send a error message to Bill Gates :-? ........

I uninstalled and try it again and again ... no success ..

This all happens with windows XP with all patches and service packs ..

I have tried the same procedure on a Windows 2000 installation and no
    problem occurs.

I need your help because I want remote control my HTPC in my new home cinema ...

So ... now its your turn !!!!!!!!!

    Greeting ...

    GM
