    Default Noob needs help PLZ

I discovered NR and girder and MC9 for HTPC, but I]m totally confused. Just curious about girder and how it comes into play w/ NR and MC9? I loaded the ccf on my PPC and went into MC9 and enabled Internet controll and it seemed to work only in a limited capacity. I was unable to browse media files, playlist etc. My question where does girder come into play here, is this only needed for the VFD on the HTPC case or with NR and MC9. Totally confused!

    TIA

Girder is not necessary with MC9, only when you want to control other things, like ZoomPlayer or other programs on the computer. What can't you do with MC9? As for the limited control I'm sure you haven't used the NetRemote Suite on the NetRemote download page to get the right remoteserver.dll. Click on the NetRemote icon on the top left side of this forum page, choose download and download NetRemote suite. Then run it, and only mark "Install Plugin" under the "Media Center 9" heading. That'll fix it. But you need to run it on the computer you've got MC9 on.

MAstiff thx for the reply. The only thing I am able to is start MC9 on my HTPC then load up NR on my ipaq and stop and start what ever I did via the HTPC not NR. I can't browse play list, media or launch MC9 via NS. I will dload the suite and see how far I get.

    TIA

Ah. The one thing you can't do without Girder is to start/exit MC since you can't communicate with MC as long as it isn't running.

That makes sense. Spent all night reading about girder and I will see what I can accomplish today. NR is a great program and I hope develpment continues. Was reading the old thread over at AVS and was trying to track down the ccf and gml file that was included with the Win32 release, but was unable to locate it. Does anyone still have those two files so I can at least have a strating and reference point? Also, I'm curious I dloaded quite a few ccf files last night and was curious why people do not include girder (gml) files as well?

Err, I'm able to start MC9 and control it via NR, but when I click on Play Now, Media Library or Playlists all I get is "loading." I have installed the plugin per the instructions above, but what am I missing?

If it's MC 9.1 that's very experimental right now. You need to use 9.0.180 (the latest 9.0 version). If not, maybe you had MC running while downloading the remote server plugin? Then it won't go through.

I am currently using version 9 that I dloaded off of their web site, but still experiencing the same issues as stated above. Should the plugin be listed under the plugin manger in MC9, if so which one are we looking for? The only one I see for remotes is IRman, which is not started since I'm using Remote server in MC9. Like I stated previously I am able to stop, start and advance to the next song via NR, but nothing else like browsing media and playlists.

    TIA

No, it's listed under Tools - Options - Startup Settings. You should choose to run Remote Server at port 8080 (which seems to be the standard port for that thing).

Mastiff I actually uninstalled everything and reinstalled and all is good. I must have had something corrupt or a missing file, but working fine. Now on to girder, which I know will be a learning curve involved.

Good on you! And yes, Girder can be interesting...but so is learning to drive a Ferrari. It's much easier to learn to drive a Volkswagen Beetle, but there are a lot more interesting things you can do with a Ferrari.
