How to start a specific playlist straight from NR?

I'm probably missing something terribly obvious here, but how do I get the following to work:
- Click a button on the CCF my NR device, say 'eighties'
- Select and start playling a specific playlist, called 'eighties'

Ideally I would also be able to set some other discrete parameters like:
- shuffle on/off
- go through the playlist top to bottom, bottom to top or random
- start playing with the first track in the playlist, or pick a random one

Is this possible using the MC plugin for this, or do I need to use Girders function to control external apps?
