    Default Problem with Girder plugin

It now makes some months that I use Netremote and this tool became completely indispensable in my system Home Movies. I always wait with impatience the new versions and I'm happy to find news functionalities every time. Thank you very much Ben, for this great work!!! I hope that the development of this application will continue in the time.

Since some times, can be one or two months, I have the impression that I lose the connection with Girder.
My configuration is the following :
    Pc N°1 (Constantly Power On)
    - Girder 3.2.9
    - CM11A (X10)
    - USBUIRT
    - Router Wireless Isdn (Not possible to have ADSL)
    - MyHTPC (TVGuide Fr, Weather,)

Pc N°2 (In function solely for JRiver MediaCenter)
    - Girder 3.2.9
    - MediaCenter 9.1
    - Access Point
    - ZoomPlayer

Pocket Pc Dell Axim 5 with Wireless Card Dell 1180
    - NetRemote 0.995 rc7
    2 Active Plugins Girder
-The firt one ID -1 for Pc N°1 [192.168.0.30]
-The second ID -1000 for Pc N°2 [192.168.0.50]

It is not easy to explain (Sorry for my English), but from time to time (suddenly), I lose the connection with girder on the Pc n°1.
Indeed, it is necessary that I leave Netremote then on my Pocket Pc that I throw Netremote again to get the connection. I never have this problem with the Pc N°2 and Mediacenter!!.
I don't think that it comes of my wireless equipment. Did you noted this problems ?
Thanks very much for your help. I hope that you understand what i mean...

I think I do understand what you mean.

I run a mixture of Girder and my own Windows Media Player 9 Server (simpler than JRMC) and a DigiTV server. I never lose the connection to WMP9 or DigiTV, but often lose it to Girder, and have to restart the Pocket PC. Does this sound familiar?

I strongly suspect a networking problem the Pocket PC Girder plug-in. Ben has sent me the source to this (he's very busy on other things), and I plan to spend time this weekend attempting to track it down.

    Ok, thanks for your reply.
On one of my PC, I use JRMC and I do not have any problem and i'm never lose the communication. But on my second Pc, i run Girder to control X10 et Irda with UsbUirt, I'm not certain that the problem really comes from girder plug-in, but I loses connection between Pocket PC and Girder but not completly because i can ping my Pc !
It's very strange because it's irregular. That functions well during a few seconds then, lose connection. I think, it's the same problem that you have but i'm surprised because people do not seem to have this problem?

It's a good news that you can work on that.
If you want, I can test when you will have the new version?

Thank you very much for your support.

I am running a traced version of the Girder driver on my live HTPC and so far the problem has not reappeared. That is very annoying.

I have already fixed a couple of minor problems, but I can't see how those fixes would cure the main problem I was looking for.

If I make no further progress by Friday, I will mail Ben my changes so far, to incorporate in the next RC. I will be away all next week and will not be able to work on it while I am out of the country.

Thanks for the help Avid. Have you noticed anything else?

If you can email me what you have, I'll include it with the next release.

    Hi Ben,

    Welcome back.

I didn't send the stuff when I said I would as you were on vacation.

I've been in Redmond WA all this week, but I'll be back to the UK tomorrow and will send my changes as soon as I get home. For me the problem has now "gone away", but I haven't knowingly fixed it. I'm not sure I like that!

Just to add some more info for you I have a similar problem. I don't always lose the connection to Girder but often I fail to get any feedback from girder back to NR. Typically this happens when I first start NR.

I have a red/green icon in the bottom corner of my ccf to indicate that Girder is talking. When first loaded the icon shows red but it should change to green if I hit the Home icon on my home page or if I hit any of the tabs at the top of my ccf (this initiates the request to girder for feedback to change the icon to green). Like I said I often have to close and reopen NR to get it green. You can DL my ccf and gml in the user downloads area to see what I mean.
