Default Unable to put PC in standby

    Hi,
I've been working a bit with netremote to switch on and off my HTPC with my PDA.
The problem is that as soon as I start netremote on the PDA my HTPC starts with the WOL. No real problem you would think. If I now want to put the HTPC in hibernation he just restarts every tme as long as I have NR working on the PDA. If I shut down the PDA or stop NR working on it and push the power button on the HTPC he hibernates. I would like to be able to hibernate using my PDA running NR.
Anyone had this problem before? If so please help

    Regards
    Marco

If I understand your problem correctly, you may have a look at the Control panel, system, Hardware, Device manager. Double click on your network card. There's a setting called Power Management. It will be set to "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby". You can try to tick the box unde this, "Only allow management..." and so on. Then only a so called magic packet will start the computer, not regular network traffic.

    Hi Mastiff,
Great setup you have at home! I'm just starting so I still have a long way to go.
Maybe I was not clear enough but when I put may HTPC in Stby everything works ok. If I then start netremote on may pda my HTPC wakes up without having send a command. It won't go back to stby until I closed NR on my PDA. If I do this and push the button on the HTPC he goes to stby mode. I guess it has something to do with NR looking for the HTPC and wanting to get some data from JRMC which I'm running on the HTPC.
Hope I can get a solution soon.

    Hi Mastiff,

Everything works fine now. It was like you told me; I changed those parameters in the hardware manager. First it was not working but after I did a restart everything fell in to place. Now just add two button in NR and done.
    Thanks

Nice to be able to help! And I'm pretty satisfied with my setup, but of course everything can be improved on. Right now I'm building the kitchen computer (named Kjøkkenmaskin, which is norwegian both for "kitchen machine" and "food processor", so I like the pun!) with TV and media playback, surfing and anything else you can do with a computer. It's all based around a M-ATX mainboard with a very quiet cooling solution and a 19" high quality LCD display. The coolest kitchen TV in the neighborhood! 8)
