I need to send an Escape keypress to an application.

So I created a Keyboard action, and put "[ESCAPE]" in the text field.

This does not work, even if I check the Force box.

So, I copied a Girder 3 Keyboard action from one of the built in GML files. I selected Escape in the "Special Key" field, and checked the "Alternative Key Send" box (it didnt work without that checked) and it works just fine.

So... How do I get this to work with a Girder 4 keyboard action?

Dave, how are you using targeting with this?

Both versions of the keyboard action have the same target.

I select the main window of the application (WinFast PVR).

What specific information do you need?

Does it work if you just target the foreground window (assuming the window is foreground...)

Mike, just one thing I noticed - Dave is using [ESCAPE] whereas the help says that you should use <ESCAPE>

Is the help correct, or are both of them supposed to work?

Doh!

That is probably it. I had mis-read the help and thought it was square brackets, not angle brackets.

That fixed the problem.

Sorry to have bothered y'all with this dumb mistake!
