View Full Version : MC11 / G4 gml?

Has anyone updated the gml that comes with MC11 to work with G4? Or even rolled his or her own?

Someone mentioned something about one over on the MC interact forums, but he hasn't posted in a while.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi,

See no reason not to try making one yourself, or are there problems with it?

:wink:

The new G4 has a legacy send message that should work with MC. Anyway I have done some of the commands, here's play/pause to zone 0-2 (the first, second and third zone) just to give an ida of the synthax:

WindowHandle = win.FindWindow ("MJFrame",nil)
if (PlayList.Control == "PlayList.Z0")
then
result = win.PostMessage ( WindowHandle, 33768, 10000, 16777216)
elseif (PlayList.Control == "PlayList.Z1") then
result = win.PostMessage ( WindowHandle, 33768, 10000, 33554432)
elseif (PlayList.Control == "PlayList.Z2") then
result = win.PostMessage ( WindowHandle, 33768, 10000, 50331648)
end

The point being that if you can assign a button to change between the different zones by setting the PlayList.Zx variable to decide what zone to control. Without that, it's a lot simpler:

WindowHandle = win.FindWindow ("MJFrame",nil)
result = win.PostMessage ( WindowHandle, 33768, 10000, 16777216)

This just toggles play/pause on zone 0, the first zone.

Thanks Mastiff, for a response that was actually helpful!

@blubberhoofd
I guess from your response you have a suggestion about how to turn this (http://www.jrmediacenter.com/DevZone/MCCommands.h) into a gml file, other than manually creating the hundreds of sendmessage actions?

Jriver distributes one with their software, but it hasn't been updated in 2 major releases/hundreds of builds and added features. And, to boot, it's made for G3.3.

Hi,

actually, I was thinking the GML for MC10 in the Girder 3 download section could be adapted.
If I remember correctly, all my sendmessage commands from my Girder 3.3 GML still worked after being imported into Girder 4, it could give you a good starting point.

I tried that, but had trouble with targetting. Moving from MC10 to MC11 requires a change in the targetting parameters, and I couldn't easily see how to do that in the Legacy SendMessage command.

Can you advise?

Hi,

I should add that the incompatibility between Girder 3.3 and 4 can only allow these targeting changes when used with Girder 3.3.

so load into Girder 3.3, change targetting, save and then load into Girder 4.

pretty inelegant solution

maybe mike can chime in with something better here? maybe some secret "gml generator" of the girder elite... :D

you could load it into g3.3 and do a global target change.

Mike, how do you do that please?

its been about a year...

but you highlight the group and then on top menu bar of g3.3 there is somewhere to change group targeting.

Mike,
I don't mean to ask a dumb question (still new to this)...but what would you change the target too?

Sorry to dust this one off, but I wanted to post this link (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=33295.0) to a post on the MC interact boards with some good G4/MC11 gmls.

I'm having problems sending my .gml file for jriver Media Center.

However, you should find a working gml file under your Jriver Media center's folder, try looking there and seeing what you find. If you need, I can email it to you directly, it's too big to post on this forum.
