View Full Version : HP Pavilion ZD8320 laptop - where is the IrDA ??

I have HP Pavilion ZD8320 laptop and with it comes a HP mobile remote control but now i want to use the infrared port for program another remote but i have no clue which plugin i must use with girder so i can control my infrared port on my laptop i cant find any info about it in my system settings.

please help !

Hi,

Take a look into the device manager, maybe it shows up as a Human Interface Device and then the HID plugin would be the one for you.

BTW: do not confuse IRda with the consumer electronics standard as they are usually incompatible.

does the original software for the remote allow remapping of the triggered actions?

nope not exactly just i can change some buttons through the Quick Launch Button settings :/

Hi,

if the settings allow you to lauch an external application, you could trigger Girder's event.exe with custom parameters.

this way you could at least use some buttons to trigger events in girder.

other than that you could try to get a plugin-developer's interest

yea i already did that a little still would be nice if i could program some remotes though. ahh well maybe ill buy a USB HID for remote controls... or wait for a plugin :P
