Hello,
I'm realy new to all this stuff, so please be gentle...

I have a new IR remote, the simplest kind. It has a crappy driver/software that is completely un-configurable so I thought I'd use girder to control my htpc.
I cannot use girder parallel to the remote's driver, because it doesn't work, so the driver's disabled.
Girder does recognize the remote when I use the HID plugin, but it is getting a repeating constant signal from it - the LED is blinking yellow all the time, with the string
FF0640210884C410

When I press a button on the remote a different string appears (only the first 3 letters are different) but after a few millisecs it goes back to the constant signal. I thought maybe there's a malfunctioning button on the remote, but I tried them all and each has a different hex-code, and no button gives this constant one.
btw - if it helps, the HID plugin recognizes the remote as:
PC/Apple IR Reciever

I've attached a screenshot of the relevant windows.
Anyone familiar with this problem or its solution?

Thanks,
Ugi.

You should be able to get around this in Girder 4 since you can use Lua to filter out repeating events of this kind.

I'm not aware of a solution to this problem in Girder 3.3

Just wondering if the reciever is getting a stray signal from another source...

Do you have flourescent lights in the room, sunlight coming through a window?

Try covering the reciever and see if the constant signal stops.

Just a totally random guess...

thanks for the quick reply.
I have girder 4. It also recognizes the same hexcode repeatedly.
How can I tell it to ignore it?

Thanks again,
Ugi.

Can you post in the G4 forum, show the output from the logger window so we can show you how to fix this. Note: you have to configure G4 HID devices differently.
