View Full Version : Sending command to VLC media player

I'm trying to control the VLC media player with Girder 3.3. Unfortunately I'm struggling with sending "crtl o" keyboard command to the player. I focus VLC with the cross hair. A check shows, that the window/thread exisits. After applying the target definition nevertheless the "ctrl o" keyboard command seems not reach the VLC media player, because, if I chose to sent the "ctrl o" keyboard command via girder to the active window and bring VLC in active state, it is working fine. Therefore I guess that I do have some trouble with focussing the VLC media player. Looking thru the list of running applications does not show any alternative window/application to focus at, but just the vlc.exe. What can I do to get the stuff working?

I'm running Windows XP SP2 with latest patches.

Thanks for any help!

from previous experience with VLC, I've learned that spoofing hotkeys is not the most reliable way to control VLC.

So I would recommend using the command capture functions of Girder.

Just give a shout if more help is needed ;)

many thanks for your advice. I have restructured my control for VLC and now it seems to work reliable.
