View Full Version : Receiving remote control signals with .net

This seems like it should be simple enough, but everything I've seen is about sending IR signals from the PC...

Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to get started with this?

I want to take a simple remote control -- any brand, doesn't matter -- and when I press some buttons on it (e.g., play, pause, etc.) have a custom application (in vb.net) respond.

What's my simplest path to have a button press on a remote control create an event in vb.net?

I've ordered a USB-UIRT which seems to be part of the solution? (Or is my built in IR port sufficient?)

Thanks for any pointers!

This isn't really the place to ask this sort of question - the answer from here is to use Girder, not surprisingly.

Better to ask this on the USB-UIRT forums - see http://www.usbuirt.com/support.htm

Thanks for the pointer Rob. Does Girder do this btw?

That's one of the things it will do, yes.
