Hi

Having continuing problems with the USB UIRT picking uip different codes and failing to respond.

I wondered if buying a dedicated Media Centre remote + receiver, then using my Harmony remote instead would work better?

Something along these lines:

Does this sound like a good idea?

The USB UIRT is one of the best units out there. What kind of problems r u having. Have you asked at their site?

The IR receiver is so universal it can respond to any signal. It doesn't always recognise the signal sent by my receiver as it's affected by distance from the receiver, duration and lots of other things.

I've asked on the site and there doesn't appear to be a clear solution.

I wondered if using a specific remote receiver instead of a universal one would therefore work better?

how about a different remote?

Well I'd rather get a Windows media remote+receiver for 20 than replace a universal remote that works really well for all my other equipment that cost 70.

Also, I've tried other remotes with the UIRT and it's the same problem.

Surely a dedicated 'non-universal' receiver wouldn't have this problem?

The MCE remote/receiver works well.

I have never had any problems with the USB UIRT and many diff. remotes.
