View Full Version : Best version of VC++?

The new machine trickle-down is about to reach the HTPC development machine here. So that's finally switching from 2K to XP.

I'm wondering what version of VC++ to install and use there. The plug-ins were built with VC6 back on the old machine. What version are other C[++] plug-ins using currently? Have there been compatibility issues for users? It'll need to be Studio; I can't go with Express because some code uses MFC and ATL.

There haven't been any changes to the plug-ins because no one has asked for any. Honest. But I think it's probably a good idea to keep them up-to-date and avoid problems later.

Ron and I still use VC 6 for a lot of our work. VS 2003 or later will work.

I'll stick with 6.0 for now, then (and worry about it again after Vista SP1).

And I'm using Delphi7 and do not think it is quite different to write plugins there. I can't write in C(++) but can read it.
