Is it possible to use NetRemote with the built-in IRDA transceiver in a notebook computer? The user manual only refers to using it with a USB IRDA transceiver.

No, it won't work with IRDA devices at all - IRDA is for data transfer, not consumer IR.

What kind of consumer IR devices do you mean? Do you have examples of units available?

We generally recommend the USB-UIRT which will work happily with NetRemote. If you have Girder as well then there's a wider variety of options e.g. the IRTrans.

The USB-UIRT is very nice, I have been using mine for several years. As for IRDA it's sort of like flogging a dead horse with a barbed wire. There's been questions about that since NetRemote started. ;)
