I picked up an Axim X50V as suggested on this forum. It is a lot of fun and I have created a nice ccf for it.

Right now the battery only seems to last about an hour with the WiFi left on and the screen sleeping. Is this what I should expect with the battery that comes with the unit?

I see that I can get another battery on EBay for $10-$20 that is a 2300.

What are you other Dell Axim X50 and X51 users doing about battery life?

I keep my Axim in the charging cradle when not in use.

Two suggestions:

(1) Get an extended battery (mine lasts about 4 hours in combination with the suggestion below).

(2) Add the following code to your LUA, to turn the screen completely off (instead of just dimming it):

-- Function to blank the screen if no button has been pressed for 60 seconds
function BlankScreen( )
if ( tonumber( NetRemote.GetVariable( "Utility.TimeSinceLastAction" )) > 60000 ) then
NetRemote.ExecuteAction( -999, 3, 4 );
end;
end;

-- Create a timer to call the BlankScreen function once per minute (only on PPC)
if (NetRemote.GetVariable('NRCFG.Platform') == 'WINCE') then
pScreenTime = NetRemote.SetTimer( 60000, BlankScreen );
end;

Cheers,
Tim

Awesome. I was planning to get an extended battery, but wasn't sure if there were some other tricks. I will add the LUA script that you provided. Thanks.
