Hello --

I'm going to purchase Girder in the next few days and wanted to know which version is right for me. I'd go for 5 but it seems like it's still in beta, yet it is for sale. Can someone explain/make a suggestion.

Thanks,

Ben

The whole "Girder 5 Beta" rubric is almost farcical. From what I can tell, the "Beta" has been out since October 2006. It seems to me that, as a product for commercial sale for 1 1/2 years, it's as much of a beta as Windows Vista is.

Trust me as someone who uses Girder 5 as the backbone of my home automation project I would have to say that Girder 5 is very stable. I would suspect it to go non beta very soon. I suspect that its more to do with enhancements than anything else as Girder 5 is pretty advanced. As for how stable it is... I used to have to reboot Homeseer 2 at least a couple times a week for what they called released code and I rarely have to reboot Girder 5. In fact it ran my house without a glitch for the entire period of my back surgery and recovery.

So I would just buy Girder 5 IMHO.

We're mostly waiting on updated documentation for Girder 5.
