I would like to display OSD messages during TV viewing or DVD Playback, using MCE. For example whilst viewing a TV channel a girder event is displayed on screen. Any help would be appreciated

Have you looked into YAC MCE?

You can send text messages from Girder to the YAC listener. I use YACTextSend.exe from Girder to send to my PC's running the YAC listener to pop up the caller ID info as it comes into Girder via Netcaller ID. You could easily send it to the YAC MCE client as well.

local s_yac_msg = string.format("Incoming call from %s at %s", (pld1 or 'Unknown'),(pld2 or 'Unknown'))
win.ShellExecuteEx("c:\\mount\\YACTextSend.exe", s_yac_msg, nil, win.SW_SHOWNORMAL)

I've been looking for something like this for a while as well. This MCE-YAK is pretty good. My only question - is there any way to change the heading of the message in MCE? When using YACTextSend.exe, it always displays the title as "TEXT MESSAGE" - it would be nice to change this to something else.
