View Full Version : device manager red highlight for driver

July 18th, 2009, 02:34 AM
I am fighting a new system setup
UIRT was working fine on the old system and even now on the laptop with XP

new system has Vista ultimate x32
I have the correct driver loaded for vista x32
I do have an AMD x64 CPU quad core if that matters
UIRT is flashed with the latest firmware (done on the lappy)

in settings/plugins
the USB-UIRT driver is highlighted in red
Generic Plugin Info is
version 3.2.0
Device number 75

Plugin is loaded (error occured while enabling)

vista device manager says all is fine with the UIRT
when shot with a remote the red light blinks on the vista system

Any help? I really want my PC remote back working :)

Does something else have the USB-UIRT open perhaps?

USB keyboard and mouse are the only USB devices plugged in
It's a new install so not much software installed yet, just standard stuff

Any way to tell for sure?

You could try using DebugView (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896647.aspx) to see if there are any diagnostic messages shown.

no joy here.
I can watch girder load error free
I plugged the UIRT into another USB port and watched vista load the driver, but nothing showed up in debugview

I am pretty sure that the UIRT is working as it still works fine on the XP laptop. flash firmware, learn remote codes, and lrnhelper ver 5 all work on the laptop.

I downloaded and ran "process monitor" from the same source
when I launched girder I saw it load \plugins\USBUIRT.dll and system32\uuirtdrv.dll

both loaded fine, but right after the driver load there is a reg request that failed

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows NT\currentversion\Image File Execution Options\DIINXOptions\uuirtdrv.dll name not found

hummm when I look at file activity
QueryOpen girder5\uuirtdrv.dll fast IO disallowed
createfile girder5\uuirtdrv.dll name not found
QueryOpen system32\uuirtdrv.dll fast IO disallowed
createfile system32\uuirtdrv.dll success
querybasicinformationfile success
closefile success
createfile success
createfilemapping file locked with only readers
querystandardinformationfile success
createfilemapping success
closefile success
it then loads the image with success
then gets the name not found with the regqueryvalue

I have no idea if this means anything or not

In that case I'd recommend asking on the USB-UIRT forum
