View Full Version : Hardkeys and lua

I noticed that on my Dell Axim I could alias a hardkey to Execute lua code
(either ondown or onrelease), but not to a lua event action. I came across this
problem a while back and posted the issue, but you probably missed it. Is this
a lua issue? I like the flexability that the Lua Event actions have so I would like to be
able to bind them to hardkeys.

By the way, good job in fixing recent bugs.

The problem is that the first parameter to the Lua event actions is a button object, hardkeys obviously aren't buttons so it's not as simple as it might at first appear.

I'll think about this though.

What I was trying to do was to assign an alias to the hardkey. The Lua event
action is defined on a regular button. So I would expect that the alias would
just act as a short-cut to the regular button and the Lua event action would
get the original button object.

Right, this is not currently possible - at present if you have a button that is aliased to another button's actions the Lua events will take the button you actually pressed as the first parameter, not the aliased button.

I'll definitely have to think about this a bit more to see if it's going to be possible.
